I made good progress on the pink twin quilt this week. You can see the details in THIS POST. I got it sandwiched yesterday afternoon and started quilting today. I planned better for this quilt and prepared the binding before I put the walking foot on the machine for quilting. This way I should be able to go straight from quilting to binding without needing an extra foot change in between.
Last week was the Craft activity at the library that I cut the squares for a few weeks ago. In all honesty I did not pay much attention until the end. I had taken my cutting tools and large mat and was cutting 2 yards sections of fleece for an upcoming program during this program.
I think it was "felting" and Little S did participate. It was fun to see all the ladies with their different colors of fabric squares and poking away at their design.

One lady called this a "Barbie Butterfly" |
Seven have already emerged. I am hoping it isn't too hot for the later ones since we have been in the triple digits the last week. I raise monarchs at school and home, so it was very interesting to see the similarities and differences with the swallowtails.

Your pink quilt looks very pretty, love the green accent. Beautiful butterfly, Swallowtails are not common at home, love this black back and funny eyes on the tails.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing today and linking up.
I have selected plants for our yard to attract butterflies and humming birds. I never tire of either and butterflies, especially monarchs and swallowtails frequently make an appearance in my work. So, your post caught my attention. Love that you include a unit on growing/hatching monarchs in your classroom. One of the teachers in my school did that, too. This was back in the 1960's. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on all the progress on the pink quilt and with your sewing time. You've had a good year. How cool that you "foster" butterflies. They are one of my most favorite creatures.
